Glossary
At SOPHIA we use a number of terms and concepts which may differ from users understanding or perseption of similar terms. Here we present a simple Glossary of the main terms and anacronyms used on thsi site and in describing SOPHIA and its uniques capabilities.
SOPHIA automatically discovers themes in unstructured content. It presents documents organised into thematic folders as a result of search to enable users locate the most contextually relevant information to their information needs.
Concepts are important terms & phrases which SOPHIA automatically extracts from thematically related content. They are useful so users can flter search result lists to further focus in on a particular topic of interest. The size of the font indicates the importance of a concept within a theme.
This is a 3 dimensional space around every document within a corpus which contains all other documents that are semantically similar. These are accessed via the SOPHIA interface and are useful as they contain relevant documents that do not contain the query terms and would therefore be missed by conventional search tools.
