Sophia's products are built upon the Sophia Contextual Discovery Platform (CDP) which leverages our patented semiotics-based algorithms to index documents in order to discover the meaning contained within them and uncover the semantic relationships among them. Our semiotics approach is not dependent on linguistic processing of text like NLP (Natural Language Processing) solutions but rather on the analysis of symbols (words) as they create meaning based upon their contextual placement within a document. This is understanding meaning at a local or document level. Additionally the CDP understands meaning at a corpus (dataset) or global level through a related concept called intertextuality. This means it understands the meaning of an entire document within the context of all other documents within the collection. This is very useful when determining how documents relate to each other.
